Engagement ceremony or ring ceremony is a pre-wedding rituals is mainly celebrated for accepting each other for the marriage. The would be bride & the bridegroom will exchange ring to each other. The family member of both bride & groom take an oath that they are accepting the bride & groom as their new family member & will be responsible for all future well being.

In Himachal it called as Roka,

In Punjab its Shagan,

In marwari’s it’s Mudha Tika,

In Haryana it’s sagai,

In Rajastan it’s Tilak,

In Gujarat it’s Gor Dhana,

In Maharashtra it’s Shakar puda,

In Bihar it’s Cheka,

In Odisha it’s Nirbandha,
